ASHA Ministry New Hope (A-M-N-H) for Education
ASHA Ministry New Hope for Education was started in 2012 in Lahore, Pakistan.Miss Asha realized that Some area of Lahore are lacked of proper schools. In conversations with the local community, it became clear that there was a dire need for schools to educate the alarming number of children roaming freely during the day. In January 2013, A-M-N-H opened its doors to a school in Green Town Lahore. On the first day, more than 10 children lined up outside the school, unkempt and barely clothed, but curious and eager to learn.
A-M-N-H Children’s Education Foundation works to break the poverty cycle by helping children from the poorest or most marginalised communities complete school or receive further education or training. By helping children A-M-N-H believes this not only helps childs but gives to succeeding generations and their communities the possibility of a better life with more choice.
A better life for children can mean many things. A girl who completes her schooling grows into a woman who is better able to look after her health and that of her children. By finishing schooling herself, she will care more that her children finish theirs and be better able to support them while they are in school. As a result of the skills and competencies she has gained during her schooling, she will be better equipped to earn a living and so have greater independence and dignity. An educated young woman is also at considerably less risk of becoming a victim of the sex trade or ending up an imprisoned worker in a sweat shop.
A-M-N-H runs a rapidly expanding Access to English Program, providing high quality English teaching for students. It is a wonder to see young children, most from impoverished backgrounds, emerging past social and economic barriers by learning to speak fluent English.
